WHY SUMMER IS THE BEST TIME TO FORM NEW HABITS
Have fun whatever that is for you! Reading a book, (wearing a fluorescent headband by a lake) walking the streets of a new city, swimming in the sea, playing frisby with the kids, taking a hike, calling a friend (out of the blue), following that yoga video you’ve always been thinking about but not had the time.
Appreciate all the great things you have in the moment wherever you are; the sun shining, the juicy tomatoes you pick up in the Spanish market, a wonderful body that allows you to take that stroll in nature or by the sea, waking up with no alarm bell, eating meals around a table as a family, BBQ’s in the garden.
Self Reflect on the challenges/problems you are faced with or have overcome. If you have a bad knee look at the opportunity you have – forced rest or taking up some exercises that you can do like swimming or upper body strength, reading that book! If you’re a bit self conscious in your clothes take the chance to try a new way of nourishing your body with an abundance of fresh foods or new recipes. Identify what you’re most afraid of, something that’s been holding you back and say f**k it, I’m going to do it anyway!
New energy let go of the old so you can hold space for something new. If you’re feeling a bit bored of the usual everyday life be adventurous. If you know you lack sleep, then sleep! If you feel like your feet never hit the ground, try some meditation. If you need to switch off, take a walk. When we rest it’s a chance to rejuvenate and restore that balance and reconnect mind and body, far away from everyday stress.
Above all do the things you enjoy and you’ll radiate with energy, you’ll feel free and you never know, without realising it you may even have opened the doors to a new habit that you enjoy and can’t live without. Just because you have to come back home, it doesn’t mean you have to go back to your old ways.
